Look:Study the picture. Notice everything you can and try to remember it. What time of day does it look like? Notice the contrast of darkness and light? Where is the light coming from? Close your eyes. Can you still imagine the picture? What was the setting? Tell everything you remember without looking. What story is being told here? Share your thoughts. Rembrandt is considered the painter of light. What is important about the light in this painting of his?

Observe: Take an early sunrise walk or a sunset walk. Notice shadows and light during your time outdoors. Are shadows long or short? How do shadows change the colors of objects around you? Enjoy your time outside observing the effects of light.
