Activities
Look: Study the picture. Notice everything you can and try to remember it. What time of day does it look like? What season? I wonder the significance of the position of the two men’s hands. Are you curious at what words are being spoken? Share your ideas. Close your eyes. Can you still imagine the picture? What colors did you notice. Tell everything you remember without looking.

Observe: Take an early morning or early evening walk and observe birds. Use all your senses. You may find you hear more birds than you see. Look for flocks of birds coming back after their long winter south. Discuss any bird observations you have had over the past few weeks around your home. Draw or paint, if you like, a common bird that lives in your neighborhood, or paint a warbler using the pictures in The Burgess Bird Book.

Listen: “Flight” from Birds, by Herman Beeftink. Describe what you imagine as you listen.
Share: Can you imagine what it would be like to fly? I wonder what the view would be like for a migrating bird. How do they know when and where to go? What do you think? #choosingbeauty
